<\/span>There is much speculation about who wants and can buy the 168,000 hectares of forest that Stora Enso wants to sell in Sweden<\/a>. Now both Holmen and SCA are giving notice that they are not interested in buying.<\/p>\n

Henrik Sj\u00f6lund, president and CEO at Holmen, and Ulf Larsson, president and CEO at SCA, announce that the companies are currently not interested in buying Stora Enso's forest.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of October, Stora Enso announced that the work to sell twelve percent, 168,000 hectares, of its forest assets in Sweden has begun . The company wrote in a press release: \u201cA potential transaction would be subject to agreement on terms with investors, including a long-term agreement on timber supply and forest management. A sale would reduce indebtedness and further strengthen Stora Enso's balance sheet, as well as confirm the financial value of the forest holding\".<\/p>\n

In connection with the forestry group Holmen presenting its quarterly report this week, CEO Henrik Sj\u00f6lund answered in Dagens industri the question whether Holmen is interested in buying Stora Enso's forest.<\/p>\n

''We like forests, there is no doubt about that. But if we are going to buy forest, we must both be allowed to own it and have access to the raw material. There I guess that Stora Enso would like to sell the forest but have access to the raw material. Then it doesn't suit us very well,'' he says.<\/p>\n

SCA has also presented its quarterly report , which showed strong figures. President and CEO Ulf Larsson stated for Dagens industri that there have not even been discussions about a possible forest purchase.<\/p>\n
