<\/span>Timber prices in Sweden continue to rise. S\u00f6dra is implementing another price increase, this time for logs, small logs, and pulpwood. At the same time, the association is introducing new terms that affect forest owners' conditions when signing contracts.<\/p>\n

S\u00f6dra is raising timber prices once again, and Peter Karlsson, Head of Business Area, notes \u2013 once again \u2013 that today's timber prices are at record highs.<\/p>\n

The following price adjustments by S\u00f6dra will apply from October 21, 2024:<\/strong><\/p>\n

-The base price for normal spruce logs will increase by 100 SEK\/m\u00b3fub (8.5 EUR\/m\u00b3fub).
\n-The base price for normal pine logs will increase by 70 SEK\/m\u00b3fub (5.95 EUR\/m\u00b3fub).
\n-The base price for small logs and pulpwood will increase by 70 SEK\/m\u00b3fub (5.95 EUR\/m\u00b3fub).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in a market where demand slightly exceeds supply, and we need to sharpen our offering,\u201d says Peter Karlsson, Head of S\u00f6dra Skog<\/p>\n

Can Swedish forest owners expect more price increases in the future?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cPredicting the future is always challenging. It\u2019s always about balancing the price of the finished product with the price of raw materials,\u201d Mr. Karlsson said.<\/p>\n

Several new business models<\/strong><\/p>\n

S\u00f6dra is also introducing new business models and terms that are intended to improve transparency in the raw materials market and increase security for its members. One of the innovations is called Highest Price 60 Days. This means that forest owners will receive the higher price if a price increase occurs within 60 days of signing the contract. This condition applies to felling assignments, including trunk price agreements, as well as delivery timber.<\/p>\n

The assortments covered are normal logs and small assortments of spruce and pine, as well as coniferous and hardwood pulpwood.<\/p>\n

S\u00f6dra is also introducing a condition called Price Compensation for Delayed Harvesting. This compensation ensures that if a harvesting operation has not started within one year from signing the contract, the timber will be sold at the current price at the 12-month mark, provided that price is higher than at the time of the agreement.<\/p>\n
