However, the resulting damaged wood does not put any pressure on the supply of sawn logs in October, because there is no time pressure for processing due to the bark beetle's hibernation. In addition, in some areas the damage to the forest roads must also be repaired in order to be able to process the damaged wood.<\/span><span id=\"more-36490\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Even though the Austrian sawmill industry's locations are usually sufficiently stocked with softwood logs, a revival in demand is noticeable. This has already been reflected in slight price increases in Upper Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol and Vorarlberg. Currently, timber harvesting activities are mostly limited to the processing of damaged wood. Assortments that are made available are quickly transported away, provided the infrastructure is intact. Prices for the leading range of spruce A\/C 2b+ are between \u20ac90 and \u20ac110 throughout Austria. A slight increase in demand for pine can also be expected due to price increases in Burgenland, Upper Austria and Styria. There is strong demand for larch at a stable price level, but demand is difficult to meet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The locations of the paper, board and pulp industries are very well stocked with roundwood for the softwood industry. However, due to the increase in supply due to the disaster, the supply and thus the removal of wood from the forest have stalled in some places. Prices are still stable. Beech pulpwood is in demand at stable prices. Damage to the track infrastructure caused by storms - particularly on the western railway line through the Tullnerfeld - is causing problems with rail transport.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">On the energy wood market, high stock levels - mostly from the previous season - are causing very subdued demand. Quantities outside of long-term contracts are difficult to market. A revival is only expected in the course of the coming heating season. The firewood market is also currently saturated.
