The purchase volume shrank to 830,000 cubic meters last week<\/span>, according to statistics from the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (Mets\u00e4teollisuus ry).<\/p>\n

Timber trade slowed down last week. The Finnish Forest Industries Federation's member companies bought a total of nearly 830,000 cubic meters of wood, which is almost 160,000 cubic meters less than the previous week. However, the purchase volume rose by about 280,000 cubic meters compared to last year.<\/p>\n

Purchases by the Finnish Forest Industries Federation's member companies account for about 80 percent of all timber trades in Finland.<\/p>\n

Purchases in the early part of the year have already risen to nearly 35 million cubic meters, when all buyers are included. Last year, the purchase volume was 2.6 million cubic meters smaller at the same time.<\/p>\n

Average stumpage prices were mostly declining. The average price of pine sawlogs fell to 79.23 euros, and spruce sawlogs to 81.96 euros per cubic meter. However, the average price of birch sawlogs rose to 64.21 euros per cubic meter.<\/p>\n

The average stumpage prices for pulpwood weakened across the board. Pine pulpwood was priced at 31.28 euros, spruce pulpwood at 33.29 euros, and birch pulpwood at 31.85 euros per cubic meter.<\/p>\n
