Pine logs rose by 5.1% in a month, small-diameter pine logs by 7.2%. Conversely, spruce logs experienced a more modest rise in August, with standard logs increasing by 1.1%, small-diameter spruce logs by 0.8%. Over the last three months, the prices of all assortments have grown, albeit modestly for pine logs (up by just 0.1%). The most significant price rise was for pine poles (5.5%), while other assortments saw increases of 2-3%. Compared to August last year, prices have surged significantly, with pine logs seeing a 4% rise (\u20ac3.5 per cubic meter), while spruce logs jumped 13.4% (\u20ac10.5 per cubic meter), small-diameter pine logs by 15.8% (\u20ac11.7 per cubic meter), and small-diameter spruce logs by 16.7% (\u20ac12.4 per cubic meter).<\/p>\n<p>The price dynamics of hardwood logs are split into two categories: birch assortments and other types of logs. In August, the price of birch assortments either remained stable or experienced modest increases. For example, the price of birch veneer logs rose by 1%, standard birch logs by 0.4%, and small-diameter birch logs saw no change. However, aspen logs increased by 6.9%, alder logs by 2.9%, and grey alder logs by 9.4%. Over the last three months, the trend has been even more pronounced: birch assortments have become cheaper, while other types of logs have risen sharply. Compared to May prices, birch veneer logs have dropped by 6.9%, standard birch logs by 5.3%, and small-diameter birch logs by 3.1%. In contrast, aspen logs have surged by 12.3%, alder logs by 2.9%, and grey alder logs by 9.4%. Over the past year, birch veneer logs have fallen by 13.1% (\u20ac23.4 per cubic meter) and standard birch logs by 6.4% (\u20ac7.4 per cubic meter), while aspen logs have risen by over 26.9% (\u20ac15.75 per cubic meter), and alder logs by 4.4% (\u20ac3 per cubic meter).<\/p>\n<p>In the July market overview, it was noted that the pulpwood market had seen a decline across all categories for the first time in a while. However, this appeared to be a short-term fluctuation rather than the start of a new trend. In August, the prices of all pulpwood assortments rose again, with coniferous pulpwood leading the way with increases of more than 10% (spruce pulpwood by 10.8% and pine pulpwood by 10.4%). Birch pulpwood rose by 5.9%, and aspen pulpwood by 2%. Pine pulpwood is currently the most expensive category, though all pulpwood assortments remain highly profitable for forest owners. Over the last three months, prices have grown moderately, except for birch pulpwood, which saw a 5.7% rise. Compared to August last year, the price increases have been substantial. Coniferous pulpwood has surged by over 56% (\u20ac27 per cubic meter), aspen pulpwood by 27.8% (\u20ac11.95 per cubic meter), and birch pulpwood by 19.7% (\u20ac10.9 per cubic meter).<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, the price of firewood has continued its steady decline. In August, prices fell by 1%, bringing the price of 3-meter mixed firewood to just below \u20ac39. A cubic meter of firewood was priced at \u20ac38.82, and with the addition of the 22% VAT for regular consumers, the final price was \u20ac47.36.
