Private consumption has also weakened and, despite last year\u2019s wage increases and declining inflation, remains at a low level. Current economic indicators do not suggest any imminent improvement.<span id=\"more-36318\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Austrian sawmill industry is fundamentally capable of absorbing spruce lumber. Currently, supply and demand are balanced, partly because forest owners are focusing on processing calamity wood. Regional demand has increased, although this is not yet reflected in prices. Prices remain stable, with the leading grade spruce A\/C 2b+ priced nationwide between 87 and 105 euros. Demand for larch is very strong and exceeds supply, with prices mostly stable. Demand for pine is inconsistent. There is no demand in the south, while in the north, marketing is possible in coordination with customers. In the west, a price increase has even been noted.<\/p>\n<p>A softwood auction will take place in Upper Austria at the beginning of December. Potential assortments must be clarified in advance with the regional forest helper.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Industrial Wood<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sites of the paper, pulp, and board industries are currently well-stocked with coniferous industrial roundwood. Demand is normal and generally matches current supply. Transport and deliveries are proceeding continuously. The price range for spruce pulpwood is broad but stable, between 63 and 98 euros per ton (atro). Beech pulpwood is being requested at unchanged prices, ranging from 80 to 100 euros per ton (atro) across Austria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Energy Wood<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the energy wood market, demand remains low due to persistently high stock levels. Additional quantities outside of contracts are difficult to sell. The demand for high-quality firewood is also declining at present. It remains to be seen how the current cool weather will affect this market.<\/p>\n<p>In general, wood transport is proceeding swiftly, though the extreme flooding in mid-September may have temporarily rendered some forest roads in parts of Austria unusable.
