The Austrian company Mareiner Holz has filed for insolvency at the regional court. The company is to continue as a going concern and the workforce is to be retained.<span id=\"more-36289\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Due to the economic challenges that could no longer be met, the management of the Mareiner Holz group of companies with headquarters in St. Marein in M\u00fcrztal was forced to file an application for insolvency with the relevant regional courts for all companies in the group (HD Holding, Mareiner Holz GmbH, Mareiner Altholz GmbH, Mareiner Holz SK) as of Friday, September 13th .<\/p>\n<p>The eventful history of wood processing in St. Marein in the M\u00fcrztal is full of ups and downs. In 1996, the company was founded by Hannes Dietrich and three co-partners. Soon after, and in the following quarter century, the sawmill was established as a master company in wood finishing for the design of living spaces. The wood market was added soon after the company was founded in order to have a second mainstay alongside the sawmill; the idea of \u200b\u200bwood finishing was born just as quickly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Internationally active<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This finally opened the door to the international market and investments were made continuously in expanding production, purchasing equipment and machinery as well as in office space. Mareiner became more and more of a renowned, international brand: designing a wide variety of wooden surfaces using a wide range of techniques, the corresponding know-how and always focusing on developing wooden boards into unique pieces and solutions for customers and their objects.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2019, Mareiner has expanded to include two locations in Schlierbach and Slovakia, the construction of new halls, offices and lounge areas as well as a new showroom with a wooden cinema - and with it the expansion of the entire product portfolio. The expansion required considerable financial needs, which were financed externally. In 2022 and 2023, the Ukraine crisis led to a collapse in the markets, resulting in losses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jobs should be retained<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A total of almost 70 employees were recently employed in St. Marein, Schlierbach and Povask\u00e1 Bystrica. The large investments that were made took place precisely at a time when a massive economic downturn and the collapse of large relevant markets followed.<\/p>\n<p>Managing Director Hannes Dietrich has tried everything in recent months to save the Mareiner Group and to continue it positively - he invested his entire private assets in the company by selling all of his private property. As the general economic situation did not improve and stabilize, it was ultimately no longer possible to continue the Mareiner Group in a positive economic and financial manner due to the high financial burdens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Investors are being sought<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\"It is a step that is not easy and changes a lot - nevertheless, we have set ourselves the goal of trying everything to continue the company quickly by acquiring investors and thereby preserving jobs and the company's long-standing business relationships,\" Mareiner said in a statement.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Austrian construction industry is weakening.
