China\u2019s plywood exports to most of these markets have been rising, with each of the top 12 destinations importing over 200,000 cubic meters during this period.<\/p>\n<h3>Rising exports to key markets<\/h3>\n<p>Among the top markets, the Philippines, UK, and Saudi Arabia followed Taiwan P.o.C. in the ranking for the first half of 2024. Notably, exports to these three nations grew by 10%, 11%, and 36%, respectively, contributing significantly to the overall growth in China\u2019s plywood exports.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, exports to Vietnam, Iraq, and Malaysia showed sharp increases of 94%, 96%, and 70%, respectively. However, China\u2019s plywood exports to Japan and Nigeria saw declines, with Japan\u2019s volume dropping 3% and Nigeria\u2019s decreasing by 28%.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of the United States, China\u2019s plywood exports rose, totaling 150,000 cubic meters valued at US$88 million, a 5% increase in volume. On average, the FOB price dropped by 16% compared to the same period in 2023. The most significant drop was observed in exports to Taiwan P.o.C, where prices fell by over 70%. This sharp decline in prices is one of the main reasons for the surge in export volumes to Taiwan P.o.C.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, prices for exports to Vietnam, Malaysia, and Mexico also saw significant drops, with declines of 19%, 33%, and 12%, respectively. Russia became the largest supplier of plywood imports to China, with volumes more than doubling to 173,000 cubic meters, accounting for 88% of China\u2019s total plywood imports.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Indonesia and Malaysia were the leading suppliers. However, imports from Indonesia and Malaysia fell by 7% and 31%, respectively, during the first half of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, China saw a rise in plywood imports from Vietnam, which included pine, eucalyptus, rubberwood, birch, walnut, and maple varieties.
