Finnish forestry industry exports returned to their normal level in the second quarter of the year after the slump at the beginning of the year. <\/span>The value of exports rose to 3.3 billion euros in April-June, which is a quarter more than in January-March and five percent more than a year earlier, the Natural Resources Center reports .<\/p>\n

The export value of Finland's wood products industry rose to 900 million euros. That's an increase of five percent from a year ago and 50 percent compared to January-March. The export value of lumber rose to 570 million euros and plywood to 180 million euros.<\/p>\n

The export value of the pulp and paper industry was 2.4 billion euros. The growth was five percent from a year ago and one fifth from the previous quarter.<\/p>\n

The export value of pulp and magazine paper shrank, fine paper and cardboard increased.<\/p>\n

Two thirds of imported softwood<\/strong><\/p>\n

A total of 1.4 million cubic meters of wood were imported to Finland in April-June. It is the same as in the same period a year earlier, the growth from the beginning of the year was six percent.<\/p>\n

Softwood accounted for 64 percent of imports and wood chips for 29 percent.<\/p>\n

41 percent of the wood came from Latvia, 35 percent from Estonia and 15 percent from Sweden.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
