The price of wood continues to rise in Sweden. In June, the forest owners' association Mellanskog announced the largest price increases in its history, and in late August, S\u00f6dra, which operates in southern Sweden, reported significant hikes.<\/span><\/p>\n

S\u00f6dra increased the price of standard spruce logs by up to 100 SEK per cubic meter, which is nearly 9 EUR (approximately 9 EUR). Thus, depending on the diameter, spruce logs are now being paid up to 1,200 SEK per cubic meter, which is around 105 EUR.<\/p>\n

The price of pine logs rose by 70 SEK (approximately 6 EUR), while the price of softwood pulpwood increased by 50 SEK (approximately 4 EUR), and deciduous pulpwood by 30 SEK (approximately 2.50 EUR) per cubic meter.<\/p>\n

Sveaskog, which manages Sweden's state forests, also raised prices. As of early September, the price of logs increased by 60\u201395 SEK (approximately 5\u20138 EUR) per cubic meter, depending on the region, and the price of pulpwood rose by 60 SEK (approximately 5 EUR). At Sveaskog, spruce logs now fetch a maximum of just over 1,000 SEK (around 88 EUR) per cubic meter.<\/p>\n

Both S\u00f6dra and Sveaskog justified the price increases with strong demand for wood.<\/p>\n

In Sweden, timber is measured and priced in cubic meters without bark. The bark accounts for just over 10 percent, so prices must be reduced by this amount.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
