<\/span>Mets\u00e4 Group begins\u00a0 negotiations at Lappeenranta and Vilppula sawmills. The negotiations concern possible layoffs, and the scope of the negotiations includes the entire staff. Negotiations prepare for possible production adjustments to meet temporarily low order volumes. Possible layoffs would last a maximum of 90 days.<\/p>\n

They could be implemented in several installments by the end of January 2025. The targeting, number and timing of layoffs will be determined during the rest of the year. The annual maintenance shutdown at the Vilppula sawmill starts next week. It causes a six-day break in the sawmill's production. In total, maintenance work is carried out at the sawmill for three weeks.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of August, Mets\u00e4 Group announced that it would start change negotiations regarding possible layoffs at the Joutseno pulp mill.
