Major EU destinations such as Germany and France saw substantial reductions of 27% and 35%, respectively. Similarly, shipments to the Netherlands and Denmark decreased by 18% and 24%, respectively. Despite these declines, the EU remained the largest market for Swedish softwood lumber.

The United Kingdom, the most important destination, saw a more modest decrease in imports of Swedish lumber, down by 5% to 1.18 million cubic meters. In contrast, exports to Norway increased by 6%, reaching 307,000 cubic meters, indicating a slight growth in the Scandinavian market.

North Africa emerged as a relatively stable market for Swedish lumber, with a slight increase of 2% in total exports, amounting to 890,000 cubic meters. Notably, exports to Egypt surged by 37% to 567,000 cubic meters. However, exports to Algeria and Tunisia fell sharply by 40% and 63%, respectively.

North American markets demonstrated moderate growth, with exports increasing by 5% to 500,000 cubic meters. Exports to Canada, although small in absolute terms, saw a substantial percentage increase, rising by 84%.

In the Near and Middle East, exports decreased by 25%, totaling 182,000 cubic meters. Saudi Arabia, the largest market in the region, experienced a slight decline of 3%, while exports to Israel and Yemen dropped significantly by 59% and 72%, respectively.

Asian markets exhibited mixed results. While overall exports to the region declined by 10%, Japan showed a remarkable increase of 53%, reaching 361,000 cubic meters.
