Milestone for the new Siempelkamp plant at Mekong Wood MDF Joint Stock Company: The Vietnamese company has now produced the first board at its site in the Cam Khe district in Phu Tho province. Mekong, previously known in the market for trading in wood-based panels, is paving its way into wood-based material production with this plant, it said. The company chose Siempelkamp as a partner for its entry in 2022 - not least because of Siempelkamp's \"outstanding reputation in the Southeast Asian market\". Mekong called on Siempelkamp's strength as a system supplier for the wood-based materials industry for this project. From planning and delivery of the entire process technology to assembly monitoring and commissioning of the entire plant, the full range of services of the Siempelkamp Group is represented. In addition to Siempelkamp's machine and plant engineering, B\u00fcttner, CMC, Sicoplan and Pallmann are involved in the plant concept with their core competencies.<\/p>\n
The heart of the system is the \"ContiRoll\" in the format 8' x 47.1 m. It contains the NEO press inlet, a special inlet geometry that is specifically designed for the processing of acacia. This order is the second time that a Vietnamese customer has requested this concept. The extended, highly flexible inlet heating plate makes it easier to vent the mat. It also prevents blow-outs and steel belt damage even at high production speeds. This system design significantly increases availability, capacity and operational reliability. The \"EcoScan NEO\" measuring system for the forming line has also been installed in the meantime. It offers plant operators two key advantages: high-resolution analysis of the basis weight distribution and reliable foreign body detection directly after the pre-press.<\/p>\n
The MDF plant has an annual capacity of over 400,000 m\u00b3. The thickness range of the boards is focused on 15 to 17 mm, a range of 3.5 to 32 mm is possible. The feed material is mainly made up of local raw materials such as acacia and eucalyptus. \"We are pleased to have successfully brought this project to a successful start-up together with our customer under difficult conditions - e.g. delivery bottlenecks,\" says project manager Holger Jansen.
