The only price increase was observed in birch pulpwood, birch, aspen, and alder logs. In June, the prices of softwood logs declined. Pine logs dropped by about 4% and spruce logs by about 2% compared to the previous month. This trend was hinted at in May when several companies had reduced or even stopped purchasing volumes. The average price of spruce logs surpassed that of pine logs, a phenomenon last seen nearly seven years ago.<span id=\"more-35819\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Compared to three months ago, the price of pine logs has fallen by 3.6%, while the price of small-diameter pine logs has remained almost the same. In contrast, spruce logs increased by 3%, and small-diameter spruce logs and spruce poles rose by about 4.5%. Compared to the same period last year, the trend is similar: the price of pine logs decreased by 2.8% (\u20ac2.5\/m\u00b3), small-diameter pine logs increased by 0.3% (\u20ac0.2\/m\u00b3), spruce logs by 3.4% (\u20ac2.8\/m\u00b3), and small-diameter spruce logs by 5.4% (\u20ac4.3\/m\u00b3).<\/p>\n<p>Among hardwood logs, the price of birch veneer logs saw a significant drop (6.4%). The price of small-diameter birch logs also decreased (3.1%). Prices for other assortments either increased slightly or remained stable. Birch logs increased by 1.8% over the month, alder logs by 1.1%, aspen logs by 0.6%, and the price of gray alder logs remained at the May level. The market for oak and ash logs grown in Estonia is very limited due to the small volume, and only a few companies purchase them. The price is highly dependent on the specific company and the quality of the roundwood.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2024, the average quality oak log cost \u20ac140.83\/m\u00b3 and ash log \u20ac99.17\/m\u00b3. Prices ranged from \u20ac70\/m\u00b3 to \u20ac250\/m\u00b3 (oak veneer log). Ash veneer logs were sold for \u20ac150\/m\u00b3. Compared to three months ago, the only decrease was in birch veneer logs (6.1%). Prices for other assortments increased moderately: alder logs by 3.7%, gray alder logs by 3.6%, aspen logs by 2.2%, birch logs by 2.1%, and small-diameter birch logs by 1.6%. Compared to a year ago, only aspen logs have increased in price (3.6%, or \u20ac2.3\/m\u00b3). Alder logs decreased by 8.4% (\u20ac6.1\/m\u00b3), birch logs by 14.1% (\u20ac19.1\/m\u00b3), and birch veneer logs by a fifth, or 19.8% (\u20ac38.6\/m\u00b3).<\/p>\n<p>There were no major changes in pulpwood prices last month, meaning the prices are still very favorable from the forest owner's perspective. Compared to June last year, prices have jumped significantly, especially for coniferous wood.
