<\/span>Conifex Timber Inc. has secured a $25 million term loan with PenderFund Capital Management Ltd., a Vancouver-based investment firm. A portion of the Term Loan was utilized to repay and retire Conifex's existing lumber segment credit facility with Wells Fargo Capital Finance Corporation Canada in the amount of approximately $11 million. The balance of the Term Loan will be available for working capital and general corporate purposes.<\/p>\n

The loan, bearing an interest rate of 14% annually and secured by Conifex's lumber segment assets, includes a provision for 3.6 million common share purchase warrants.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe understand that British Columbia\u2019s forestry sector is currently facing challenges on several fronts, however we are optimistic about the long-term value of Conifex\u2019s business. Amongst other strengths, Conifex enjoys excellent access to timber supply and possesses an important diversifying income stream from its power generation assets,\u201d said Geoff Castle, Lead Portfolio Manager, Fixed Income at PenderFund.<\/p>\n

The loan arrangement comes as Conifex explores additional working capital facilities to maintain liquidity amid low lumber prices. The company's long-term debt stands at approximately $75.3 million, with a weighted average interest rate of 9.29%.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
