Entrepreneurs from Poland's wood industry have sent a letter to the Prime Minister for the second time in the past two months, requesting the suspension of recent decisions by the Ministry of Climate and Environment regarding changes in forest management. They hope their concerns will finally be heard and addressed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives from various sectors of the wood industry are calling for the suspension of these decisions until a consensus is reached among all stakeholders. They also demand thorough analyses of how the proposed changes will impact the environment, the economy, and local communities. Additionally, they appeal for the involvement of other relevant ministries in these critical discussions.<\/p>\n

Entrepreneurs warn that the changes proposed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection will have widespread effects on industries reliant on wood processing. This includes sectors ranging from construction and furniture manufacturing to paper products and packaging.<\/p>\n

The letter references a meeting held on April 22-23 in Warsaw, organized by the Ministry of Climate and Environment. Dubbed the National Conference on Forests, the event aimed to gather representatives from various circles interested in or concerned about changes in Poland's forest management. The goal was to develop solutions for new forms of extended nature protection that are socially accepted and do not lead to economic, environmental, or climatic disasters.<\/p>\n

The wood industry initially believed in the promises made by Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska and Deputy Minister Miko\u0142aj Doro\u017ca\u0142a. Numerous organizations representing the entire spectrum of the wood industry reached a consensus on the necessity of expanding nature protection. They also identified potential risks and proposed measures to mitigate them.<\/p>\n

However, despite their efforts and numerous presentations at the conference, the industry feels ignored. They highlight several major concerns, including potentially massive revenue losses for the wood industry, estimated at tens of billions of PLN annually, and the resulting reduction in state budget revenues. This could also lead to a drastic increase in retail prices of wood products.<\/p>\n

Another concern is the loss of thousands of jobs, particularly affecting the least industrialized regions and small companies. Additionally, the elimination of wood, an ecological raw material, could force industries to replace it with less environmentally friendly alternatives, negatively impacting the climate.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
