EU Commission has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of multi-layer parquet from China.<\/span><\/p>\n

The European Parquet Federation (FEP) welcomes the European Commission\u2019s decision to initiate today an anti-dumping investigation against imports of multilayered wood flooring (parquet) from China.<\/p>\n

According to FEP, this action comes as a necessary step to level the playing field in the EU market given the unfairly low prices of Chinese parquet imports as a result of significant overcapacity and structural distortions in their market.<\/p>\n

The Commission investigation is a result of a formal complaint filed by FEP on behalf of major EU producers from most EU Member States where parquet is produced. The complaint contains aims at revealing the dumping practices of Chinese producers and their negative impact on the EU industry resulting in the material injury. It also provides analysis of the numerous market distortions existing in China which allow its producers to unfairly compete at the EU market, FEP reports.<\/p>\n

FEP Managing Director, Isabelle Brose, comments on the initiation: \u201cThis investigation is a necessary step to address unfair imports of parquet from China, which enter the EU market at prices considerably lower than those which are normally charged by the EU producers. We have provided detailed evidence to the Commission on this unfair pricing behaviour of the Chinese exporters which is made possible due to the high levels of overcapacity existing in China and its generally distorted economy\u201d.<\/p>\n

The European Commission will now conduct an objective in-depth investigation to assess the extent of Chinese dumping practices and the need for protective measures in order to level the playing field in the EU market. Such measures could take the form of additional ad-valorem (or fixed) anti-dumping duties and could be imposed with retroactive effects if it is determined that the Chinese producers would decide to accelerate and increase their imports to the EU prior to imposition of the provisional anti- dumping measures.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
