Holzindustrie Pabst's sawmill at the Kathal site, Austria is being completely rebuilt and modernised. The investment is intended to secure the site in the long term.The investment amounts to around \u20ac40 million. According to the company, it is the largest investment in its history.<\/span>Preliminary work started<\/strong><\/p>\n

The investment volume amounts to around\u00a040 million euros\u00a0and the project comprises a complete mechanical and structural renewal and modernisation of the sawmill. The preparatory work for this was already started at the beginning of May and will now be followed by several construction phases until the planned completion in around eight months.<\/p>\n

New sawing line<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the first phase, a new technical building will be constructed. In the second phase, starting in August, sawmill operations will be temporarily suspended in order to begin extensive construction work and the installation of a new sawing line, sawn timber sorting and waste wood disposal.<\/p>\n

Operations maintained<\/strong><\/p>\n

The tower crane with a jib length of around 70 metres that has already been installed has the purpose of maintaining production for as long as possible and not disrupting daily operations. The crane will carry out most of the lifting work during the entire construction period.<\/p>\n

About<\/strong><\/p>\n

Johann Pabst Holzindustrie GmbH is an Austrian wood industry compan\u00a0 with its headquarters in Zeltweg.\u00a0 <\/span>The company headquarters and the two glued laminated timber plants with a production output of around 100,000 m3 per year are located in the main factory in Zeltweg. Furthermore, around 60,000 tons of wood pellets and dust-free wood shavings (AlpenSpan) are produced here.\u00a0 <\/span>The sawmill and the two planing mills are located at the main factory in Kathal near Obdach.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
