Canfor has expressed ongoing interest in the Chinese market despite global economic uncertainties.<\/span> Last week, company executives, including President and CEO Don Kayne and Senior Vice President David Calabrigo, traveled to China to reinforce Canfor's position there.<\/p>\n

During their visit, Canfor representatives met with local stakeholders, including FII China and Canada Wood China, to discuss various topics such as market trends, consumer demands, regulations, and sustainability practices.<\/p>\n

Canfor's involvement in the Chinese market dates back to 2005 when Don Kayne first explored opportunities there as part of a British Columbia trade delegation. Since then, China has become one of Canfor's top five markets in terms of value and the second largest in volume, after the US and Japan.<\/p>\n

The growth in Canfor's presence in China is attributed to collaborative efforts by Canada Wood and FII China. They have worked together on issues such as code development, government relations, technical training, and marketing.<\/p>\n

Efforts to address barriers in codes and standards, promote Canadian wood, and share technical knowledge with Chinese partners are seen as essential for overcoming short-term market challenges and supporting long-term growth in Canada's wood exports to China.<\/p>\n

Despite challenges in China's real estate sector, Canfor remains optimistic. The company views these challenges as temporary and believes understanding them is crucial for long-term success in the Chinese market.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
