The Austrian sawmill industry is well stocked with softwood logs, and the market is saturated regionally. <\/span>The early April foehn storm resulted in significant amounts of damaged timber, particularly in Styria. Despite the demand for wood from buyers, this calamity-induced increased flow of quantities dampens the demand and also makes timber transportation challenging regionally. Prices are under pressure and have already been reduced regionally. The leading assortment, Spruce A\/C 2b+, is priced between \u20ac93 and \u20ac107 per cubic meter nationwide.<\/p>\n

Due to weather conditions, marketing of pine is only possible without loss of quality in close coordination with the buyer. Demand for larch is very brisk and continues to exceed supply at constant prices.<\/p>\n

In summary, at the end of the hardwood season, it can be noted that oak is still in high demand. Ash has also had a good season. Following the trend of previous years, marketing of hardwood was difficult. Although there was a slight increase in demand for maple, including B-grade blocks, often only the best qualities could be sold for other tree species.<\/p>\n

Industrial Wood
\nThe locations of the paper, pulp, and panel industries are well stocked with industrial softwood logs. With increasing supply due to calamities and the closing of the \"balancing valve\" energy wood, prices are increasingly under pressure. Timber removal is also correspondingly delayed regionally, which can in turn have a detrimental effect on forest hygiene. Price reductions for beech fiberwood indicate reduced demand.<\/p>\n

Energy Wood
\nA heating season with reduced consumption of energy wood due to weather is coming to an end. The inventories of buyers are therefore well stocked, and demand is currently weak. Due to declining energy prices, some power plants for electricity production are temporarily shut down again. Depending on the contract and quality, there is a wider range regionally in terms of price setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
