<\/span>Insolvency proceedings against Weiss GmbH, based in Flachau (Pongau), were opened at the Salzburg Regional Court on Wednesday. The company, which specializes in the wholesale and retail trade in wood and the processing of wood and is also active in timber construction, is over-indebted and insolvent.<\/p>\n

Liabilities of around 15 million euros are offset by assets of almost 3 million euros. Around 360 creditors are affected by the bankruptcy. The information has not yet been verified. However, the aim is to continue the family business founded in 1965. If the restructuring plan is accepted, the creditors will be offered a quota of 20 percent within two years. Weiss GmbH operates nationally and internationally and most recently employed 107 people. In addition to a showroom and the headquarters in Flachau, the company operates other sales locations in Austria - including in Tamsweg and Zell am See in Salzburg, St. Valentin (Lower Austria) and Spittal an der Drau (Carinthia).<\/p>\n

Economic challenges as a cause of insolvency<\/strong><\/p>\n

Several reasons are cited as the reasons for the insolvency: The war in Ukraine led to interrupted supply chains and a decline in sales. According to management, the slump in the construction industry and high inflation also had an impact on business operations. In addition, the credit institution real estate financing measures (KIM) regulation resulted in a collapse in demand for the purchase of apartments and single-family homes. Last but not least, Weiss GmbH invested in a new planing mill - at a time when the causes of insolvency could not have been foreseen.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
