The trade union association's (SAK) board has decided to continue the political strikes for another week. Thus, the strikes will continue without interruption this week as well. The SAK will next consider the situation after Easter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\"We have asked Prime Minister\u00a0Petteri Orpo's<\/strong>\u00a0government for fairness and moderation. However, the government does not listen to the organizations representing the employees. Furthermore, it intends to implement numerous goals of business life that are negative for employees. Several of them have no effect on employment or the balance of the public finances,\" says SAK chairman\u00a0Jarkko Eloranta<\/strong>\u00a0in a press release.<\/p>\n

According to Eloranta, the unions are ready to stop the strikes at any time if the government shows understanding for the workers' concerns.<\/p>\n

Strikes are felt not only in ports but also in transport. After wood transports were interrupted, several factories in the forest industry have had to be shut down. Forestry machine entrepreneurs are also concerned about fuel sufficiency.<\/p>\n

A total of around 7,000 employees of the Finnish Industry Association, the Automotive and Transport Workers' Union AKT, the Service Industries Trade Union PAM, the Construction Union, the Public and Welfare Industries Union JHL and the Electricity Union are on strike.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
