However, the pace of decline is slowing: in 2022, production decreased by 10% y\/y. Taking into account additional estimates (Rosstat does not collect data on SMEs), the production volume in 2023 can be estimated at 38.9 million m\u00b3. Peak production was recorded in 2019: 44.4 million m\u00b3. Over 5 years, a decrease of 5.5 million m\u00b3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Consumption in the domestic market is growing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is noteworthy that the rate of decline in production volumes is lower than the rate of decline in exports. Russia's lumber exports in 2023 decreased by 8.8% y\/y to 21.9 million m\u00b3. Thus, sales to the Russian domestic market in 2023 amounted to 17-17.5 million m\u00b3. For example, consumption in the domestic market in 2010-2022 was estimated at 10-12 million m\u00b3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial performance is mixed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The financial performance of Russian sawmills hit rock bottom in Q4. 2022 and began to improve in 2023. For example, the financial turnover of organizations (in a full circle) for 1-3 quarters. 2023 was only 4% (268 billion rubles) lower than the indicators for 1-3 quarters. 2022 Revenue from lumber sales decreased by 7% YoY (RUB 183 billion).<\/p>\n<p>It is noteworthy that in 1-3 quarters.
