Ponsse is renewing its operating model worldwide. The Finnish forest machine manufacturer's current operating model does not sufficiently support global operations, which causes challenges to the cost structure, the company says.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the new operating model, an organization focused on the forest machine manufacturer's sales and maintenance services will be formed, which will be divided into five market areas. The planned market areas would be: Nordic countries including the Baltics, Europe, South America, North America and Asia, Australia and Africa.<\/p>\n

The planned change applies to the entire Ponsse organization. The company estimates that the planned measures can lead to a global reduction of 120\u2013140 jobs and annual savings of around 10 million euros starting in 2026.<\/p>\n

In Finland, change negotiations with the employees will be started in connection with the new operating model. According to the company, there will be job reductions (maximum 50\u201360), job description changes and layoffs.<\/p>\n

Ponsse's factory and maintenance workers are not included in the negotiations.<\/p>\n

\"The loss of the Russian market was clearly visible\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

The difficulties in the forest industry were reflected in Ponsse's result last year. The flow of orders for forest machines weakened during the year, although it picked up a bit towards the end of the year. At the end of the year, the company's order backlog was 230 million euros, more than 120 million euros less than a year earlier.<\/p>\n

\"Despite everything, our customers were well employed. Especially in Finland and Sweden, Timber harvesting operations operate at high capacity\", says the company's CEO Juho Nummela in the press release.<\/p>\n

However, thanks to new machine deliveries and a good maintenance situation, the turnover rose to 820 million euros. There was an increase of almost 9 percent from the previous year. Operating profit barely rose to 47 million euros, but the operating profit percentage weakened to 5.7 percent.<\/p>\n

\"The loss of the Russian market was clearly visible and at the same time the difficulties of Ponsse's Brazilian subsidiary continued,\" says Nummela.<\/p>\n
