{"id":87289,"date":"2024-02-16T09:18:31","date_gmt":"2024-02-16T09:18:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/poland-to-limit-logging-up-to-20-30-in-2024\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T09:01:33","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T09:01:33","slug":"poland-to-limit-logging-up-to-20-30-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/poland-to-limit-logging-up-to-20-30-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland to limit logging up to 20-30% in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The forestry and wood industry in Poland must prepare for significant restrictions under the new government.<span id=\"more-34669\"><\/span>\u00a0Environment Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska announced that she would limit the logging planned for 2024 in the most important forests in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Hennig-Kloska explained that the main reasons for this action are the protection of valuable forests, the preservation of forests around urban centers and spa forests, as well as the lack of forest districts.\u00a0She also referred to obligations towards the European Union, in particular resulting from environmental directives and the 2030 biodiversity strategy. The Department of the Environment is initially focusing on 10 areas.\u00a0According to Hennig-Kloska\u00a0, forests that are particularly worthy of protection include primary forests that are 100 to 200 years old, forests important for water protection and mountain forests\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p>According to Secretary of State Miko\u0142aj Doro\u017ca\u0142a, restrictions on wood harvesting will not exceed 20% to 30% of the planned harvest.\u00a0He announced that some of the forests in which timber harvesting will be limited will be in the vicinity of Gda\u0144sk, Wroc\u0142aw and Bia\u0142ystok.\u00a0This is particularly important to take into account the changing climate and protect urban areas from flooding.\u00a0According to Doro\u017ca\u0142a, restrictions on logging mainly apply to national parks, Natura 2000 areas and protected landscape areas.<\/p>\n<p>Logging has increased rapidly in Poland in recent years\u00a0.\u00a0According to the Central Statistical Office, in 2022 it amounted to over 44 million m\u00b3.\u00a0This was an increase of 5.7% compared to 2021.
