In an open letter to the German federal government as well as to members of the German Bundestag and the European Parliament, the Forst & Holz platform urgently warns of massive negative consequences for forest owners, forestry companies and timber companies in Germany as a result of the EUDR regulation.<\/p>\n

Implementation in the form currently planned would lead to the abandonment of forest management in many places and would force smaller companies in particular out of the market.<\/p>\n

Georg Schirmbeck, deputy platform spokesman and President of the German Forestry Council (DFWR), emphasizes: \u201cThe practical implementation of this regulation, as currently envisaged by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, will cause exorbitant burdens and an increase in bureaucracy for the federal government, states and forest owners.\u00a0This applies in particular to small private forests and forestry associations, but also to timber companies.\u00a0The Forestry and Wood Cluster agrees that this regulation should not happen like this.\u00a0Rural areas need relief and no extraneous burdens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Due to existing forest laws, comprehensively functioning forest administrations and a high level of voluntary certification in this country, the undifferentiated implementation of the regulation leads to a disproportionately high level of effort and does not bring any material added value, criticizes the Forst & Holz platform.\u00a0Erwin Taglieber, platform spokesman and President of the German Wood Industry Council (DHWR), explains: \u201cThe companies' test run with the EU information system shows glaring deficits in the technical implementation.\u00a0The clear signal is coming from a number of companies involved in the forestry and wood industry: the way the implementation is technically planned will not be possible.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
