Despite the sluggish construction industry, there is currently a rising demand for softwood logs in Austria. <\/span>Accumulated damaged wood quantities from December can be easily accommodated in the market, given the moderate stockpiling by the sawmill industry. Provided quantities are swiftly transported, and there are no weather-related restrictions or forest storage issues. Prices have increased, with the leading assortment, spruce A\/C 2b+, ranging nationwide between 81 and 113 euros per cubic meter. Regional bonuses are granted for specific length configurations. While there is a slight market revival for pine in Lower Austria, marketing remains challenging in the rest of the country. Larch maintains its price level, with demand generally exceeding supply.<\/p>\n

In the hardwood log market, oak continues to be in high demand. This is reflected in the delivered quantities at the high-quality timber auctions at the end of January in Lower and Upper Austria. Prices for beech remain at the previous month's level, and there is an increased demand for ash.<\/p>\n

The situation in the industrial roundwood market is relaxed, despite a good demand. Inventories of the panel, pulp, and paper industries are generally accommodating. In some regions, demand exceeds supply, leading to a slight price increase. With higher prices, there are also sales opportunities for grinding wood. Red beech fiberwood is in demand at stable prices.<\/p>\n

The energy wood market is receptive, and offered quantities are mostly easily taken up. Prices remain stable, with high-quality, dry firewood continuing to be in demand at stable prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
