Mets\u00e4 Fiber, a member of Mets\u00e4 Group, starts change negotiations at the Merikarvia sawmill. <\/span>The purpose is to stop lumber production at the sawmill by summer.<\/p>\n

The negotiations concern all 79 employees of the sawmill.<\/p>\n

\"The technical service life of the Merikarvia sawmill has come to the end of its life cycle. For this reason, we have begun to plan the shutdown of the sawmill's operations,\" states Mets\u00e4 Fibre's CEO Ismo Nousiainen in a press release.<\/p>\n

Merikarvia sawmill's annual pine lumber production capacity is approximately 220,000 cubic meters.\u00a0It uses approximately 455,000 cubic meters of wood annually.<\/p>\n

Mets\u00e4 Group also saws pine on the west coast at its new large sawmill in Rauma,\u00a0which started up in the fall of 2022\u00a0.\u00a0Its production can rise to 750,000 cubic meters and wood consumption to 1.5 million cubic meters.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
