Kronospan has closed the purchase of Roseburg\u2019s Simsboro, Louisiana, particleboard facility following the expiration of the required regulatory review period. Ownership of the plant has been transferred from Roseburg to Kronospan.<\/p>\n
Details of the acquisition, originally announced in November, were not released.<\/p>\n
The company said that the Simsboro particleboard facility will accelerate the growth of Kronospan\u2019s wood panel production in North America. The company is committed to modernizing the facility in the post-acquisition period and has a proven record of accomplishment from prior acquisitions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis acquisition marks a significant event in the growth of Kronospan\u2019s North American business, as it will enable us to expand our footprint in the particleboard and TFL markets and provide even better service to our existing and future customers,\u201d said Hans Obermaier, CEO of Kronospan\u2019s North American operations. \u201cThe Simsboro site has a long history in the particleboard industry and this acquisition fits our growth portfolio well. Kronospan said it will retain the facility\u2019s 182 team members as part of the acquisition. The two companies will work to ensure a seamless transition for vendors, suppliers, and customers.<\/p>\n

Roseburg said that it is heavily invested in the composites industry, manufacturing MDF and particleboard at plants across North America. The company recently announced significant investments in two new composites plants in Dillard, Oregon, which will manufacture medium and high-density fiberboard and MDF trim suitable for exterior applications.<\/p>\n
Kronospan operates wood products sites in North America, including in Oxford, Alabama, a multi-product site with MDF, Particleboard, Laminate Flooring, TFL and other products, and an MDF\/HDF plant in Clarion, Pennsylvania.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
