From January to October this year, German softwood logs exported to China fell by about 38% year-on-year, totaling 2.84 million m\u00b3.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, German softwood logs exported to China generally showed a downward trend, from 510,000 m\u00b3 in January to 170,000 m\u00b3 in October. At present, Germany's domestic logging industry has not yet recovered to the level at the beginning of this year. It is expected that Germany's log exports to the Chinese market will remain low in the fourth quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, German sawn timber exports to China increased by approximately 52% year-on-year, totaling 600,000 m\u00b3. Since peaking at 126,000 m\u00b3 in March this year, the downward trend has been obvious. From July to October, a relatively stable sawn timber export volume was maintained in these four months.<\/p>\n

In addition, due to changes in the international situation, Germany has replaced Russia as one of the EU's major timber suppliers.
