<\/span>Acon Timber, the Argentine joint venture between the HS Timber Group (the former Schweighofer Group) and the Belgian partner Forestcape in Gobernador Virasoro, in the Argentine province of Corrientes, has started trial operations. Over the next three months, the plant with integrated further processing (drying, planing mill, pellets) will be gradually ramped up.<\/p>\n

The JV has already invested more than 100 million dollars, within the framework of a total investment of 250 million dollars, for the construction of the first stage of the which will be the largest forest-industrial complex in the country. The project, which is in the final stages of construction, has 20 hectares of total industrial area and 60 thousand square meters of covered area, in which it will process a total of 650,000 m3 of logs per year from local producers. 100% of its production to be exported to more than 70 countries in the world. The plant is designed to process pine logs sourced from regional plantations. The wood species Pinus taeda and Pinus elliottii will be processed.<\/p>\n

In this first stage, the plant will annually produce 330,000 m3 of lumber and 135,000 tons of pellets. In a second stage, the firm plans to double production capacity and it is estimated that by 2025 it will have an exportable volume of 1,000 containers per month.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
