The demand for softwood sawlogs is differentiated in Germany: while domestic demand is restrained, exports are lively. Firewood is also in high demand because many consumers are increasingly heating with fireplaces or switching to wood heating. Firewood therefore serves as a downward price brake, especially for lower-quality hardwoods.<\/span><\/p>\n

The driving force behind this is the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis it caused. They also have a significant influence on price developments. Firewood is already scarce in some regions - and quite expensive. The situation could get even worse in the fall.<\/p>\n

The main range for spruce, the sections 2b+ in BC quality, currently costs 70 to 80 \u20ac\/m3, beetle wood is around 55 to 70 \u20ac\/m3. Long timber can be exported for up to 90 \u20ac\/m3, which is sometimes higher than on the domestic market. The pine is about 10 \u20ac\/m3 below the spruce prices.<\/p>\n

Beech logs B remain stable compared to the previous year, while C grades fell by around 10%. Overall, oak prices are stable compared to last season.<\/p>\n

Hardwood firewood costs 40 to 60 \u20ac\/m3, softwood firewood costs 25 to 45 \u20ac\/m3 on the forest road.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
