Weyerhaeuser has announced it will invest $96.2 million to modernize and decarbonize its sawmill in Louisiana, USA. <\/span><\/p>\n

The upgraded technology is designed to improve the overall safety, productivity and reliability of the plant's products.\u00a0The company said the investment will allow the company to retain 157 direct jobs and maintain a corresponding annual payroll of more than $13 million, while strengthening the state's position in the homebuilding supply chain.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to announce another multimillion-dollar investment in our state's thriving forestry industry, further demonstrating how an innovative climate action plan is driving economic growth across a broad range of industries,\u201d said Governor John Bel Edwards.\u00a0\u201cWeyerhaeuser's reinvestment in its Dodson plant is a win not only for the City of Wynne Parish and Louisiana's vibrant agricultural sector, but also for the rural communities whose workers rely on the hundreds of existing jobs this modernization will preserve.\u201d<\/p>\n

The project includes the installation of three continuous drying kilns (CDKs), a new low carbon drying process system.\u00a0The company plans to install the first two CDKs by the end of 2024.\u00a0Additional new equipment is expected to be installed by the end of the second quarter of 2025.<\/p>\n

The upgraded technology will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, waste and maintenance costs while increasing drying volume.\u00a0The facility will also install a new trimmer, sorter and stacker to improve plant efficiency and help achieve production goals, the company said.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
