A further 50 employees at Moelven Byggmodul AB have been notified of redundancy. It can be added to the almost 100 employees that were announced in September. A weak market and completed contracts are the reason for the warnings.<\/span><\/p>\n

The notification of 50 white-collar workers and collective employees mainly affects personnel in contracting and at the factory in Torsby, V\u00e4rmland. Staff at other units within the company may also be affected, writes Moelven in a press release.<\/p>\n

\"It is of course sad to once again have to give notice. But the market is still weak. This notification comes as a result of projects being completed outsourced, and new projects coming in being limited. Therefore, we once again need to adapt our staffing to the current situation,\" says Henrik Asp, CEO of Moelven Byggmodul.<\/p>\n

Convinced that the market will turn around<\/strong><\/p>\n

Henrik Asp, CEO of Moelven Byggmodul, notes that there are currently too few new projects coming in, but is convinced that business will improve in the long term.<\/p>\n

Moelven has tried to tighten operations during the current market situation. Among other things, they are trying to find alternative sources of income, such as renovation of existing rental modules and sheds. The company also tries, as they themselves write, \"...to keep functions in order to quickly increase production again when the market turns\".<\/p>\n

''The construction industry is weak at the moment and we must continue to act on what we know today. But sustainable construction in wood is a growing market, so I am convinced that the market will turn around. We just don't know when,'' says Henrik Asp.<\/p>\n

6000 modules per year<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moelven Byggmodul's business consists of producing industrially produced building modules in wood. It can be about, for example, apartment buildings, schools and offices. Approximately 500 people were employed within Moelven Byggmodul AB before the first notification in September. Around 400 employees remain in the company after those layoffs. About 6,000 modules per year are manufactured in the three production facilities in Torsby, Kil and S\u00e4ffle. The company also includes contracting activities for the completion of the buildings on site.
