One of the most important woodworking companies in the Czech Republic, the sawmill in Pten\u00ed in Prost\u011bjovsk was not in operation on Monday. However, production did not stop because of the strike, the reason being the complicated situation on the wood market.<\/span><\/p>\n

The one-day stoppage of production is not due to the nationwide protest of the trade unions, but to the bad situation on the wood market. \"Of course we support the protest, but we didn't join it, because the production stops all day anyway and the employees are not at work,\" said the chairman of the Pila Pten\u00ed trade union, Jaroslav Radim Jury\u0161ek . According to him, the management of the Javo\u0159ice company decided to stop production again today due to the fact that the price of logs is still rising and, on the contrary, lumber is becoming cheaper. Falling demand from construction companies is mainly to blame.<\/p>\n

\"The construction industry is in a slump and the prices of logs are exorbitant at the end of the year. Because of this, we stand on average one day a week. Employees receive 65 percent of their wages in accordance with the management's agreement with our trade union. If it doesn't take long, it's a quite acceptable compromise,\" said Jury\u0161ek. According to him, other wood processing companies are also dealing with similar problems.<\/p>\n

Trade union representatives last met with the management of Javo\u0159ice last week and received information that the situation on the market is still complicated. The main operations were therefore shut down already on Friday and the situation repeated itself today. At the beginning of November, an agreement was made that the last working day this year would be December 15, and sawmill production in Pten\u00ed would resume on January 15.<\/p>\n

According to its management, Javo\u0159ice is one of the three largest sawmills in the Czech Republic. The sawmill supplies lumber to more than ten countries. The production site of the sawmill occupies an area of \u200b\u200bapproximately 15 hectares and can process over 450,000 cubic meters of wood annually.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
