The fall in standing sales prices continued in October. Average prices for spruce and pine logs fell by 2% compared to September and pulpwood prices fell by the same amount. The price of birch logs rose by 1%.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since June, the volume of timber trade has been almost a third lower than in the previous year. However, due to a busy start to the year, more timber was traded in January-October than in previous years.<\/p>\n

The average price paid for spruce logs in standing sales in October was EUR 70.1 per cubic metre, and the average price for pine logs was EUR 66.0. These prices fell by 2% from September and ended up 7% below the average prices for the whole of last year in real terms.<\/p>\n

The average price of birch logs for the whole country was EUR 59.9. It was 1% more than in September and 17% higher than the average for the whole of last year.<\/p>\n

Standing sales prices for pulpwood continued to fall. Compared to the previous month, they fell by 1\u20132%, but were still 13\u201321% above last year's average prices. The average price of spruce fell to EUR 26.3, birch to EUR 25.1 and pine to EUR 23.9 per cubic metre.<\/p>\n

In delivery sales, average prices for pulpwood fell slightly from September, ending at EUR 45\u201347. Average prices for the whole of last year were exceeded by 16\u201318%.<\/p>\n

Trade volumes<\/strong><\/p>\n

In October, the volume of industrial roundwood purchased from private forests was 23% lower than last year and 27% per cent below the average for the previous five years.<\/p>\n

In January-October, timber trade was 6% higher than a year ago and 1% higher than the average for the previous five years. Compared to the previous five years, trade in logs was up 2% and trade in pulpwood was down 1%.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
