It has been announced that vacations and maintenance shutdowns during the turn of the year will be longer than usual.<span id=\"more-34155\"><\/span> Stockpiling of softwood logs varies by location, but is generally below average. The utilization of wood, which has so far been focused on calamity processing, is leading to increased demand for fresh wood in certain regions.<\/p>\n<p>Prices have risen, and outside the damage areas, the upper price range for Spruce A\/C 2b+ often returns to 100 euros per cubic meter. Service capacities are generally sufficient. Due to above-average precipitation, timber harvesting, especially in southern Austria, is only possible to a limited extent. The transport of prepared assortments is swift, and any forest depots are at least reduced outside the damage areas. While in southern Austria, the demand for pine remains difficult, there is a revival of demand in northern Austria. The demand for larch continues to exceed the supply.<\/p>\n<p>In the hardwood market, oak and ash are in high demand. Prices are similar to the previous year, with occasional price spikes due to lack of demand in interior finishing. Only the best qualities of hardwoods can be marketed, and cherry is scarcely demanded. The demand for European beech is slightly declining compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Industrial Wood:<\/strong> The paper, pulp, and board industry has also reduced its production volume due to a significant drop in demand for its products. Stockpiling of softwood industrial logs is accordingly good. While the takeover in Carinthia is limited, in the rest of the country, the usually low quantities are quickly transported and taken over.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Energy Wood:<\/strong> The energy wood market is balanced. On one hand, the supply of energy wood is currently declining due to reduced logging activity, and on the other hand, industrial log quantities are redirected to energy use due to low demand. Prices are stable.
