We are even more active in southern and eastern Finland, and in northern Finland we are also preparing for the growing use of wood with the (Oulu) investment,\" says Janne Partanen , Stora Enso's director of forestry .<\/p>\n<p>Stora Enso's wood procurement organization has recently been expanded to also cover the westernmost parts of Finland.<\/p>\n<p>\"The procurement of wood seems to have started quite well there, especially now after the summer. We have come to Western Finland permanently,\" says Partanen.<\/p>\n<p>The plan also includes increasing the efficiency of wood procurement in already existing procurement areas, i.e. in the case of Stora Enso, throughout Finland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The work to replace the wood imported from Russia continues<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When the import of wood from Russia stopped a little over a year ago, Stora Enso announced its goal to replace the two million cubic meters of fiberwood previously imported from Russia, mainly from Finland. According to Partanen, the solutions to replace Russian wood imports have been made, but the implementation of the measures will still take time.<\/p>\n<p>New own employees have been hired for the new wood procurement areas, a network of entrepreneurs has been built and efforts have been made to create customer relationships with forest owners.<\/p>\n<p>\"All this takes time. Procuring wood is a long-term job. The work to replace the wood imported from Russia is still continuing,\" says Partanen.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the change negotiations announced by Stora Enso at the group level do not concern the field organization of wood procurement: wood buyers and operations experts.<\/p>\n<p>\"The message to wood sellers is that wood is in good demand. From the forest owner's point of view, the situation is not bad at all. Wood procurement from Finland has tough goals for this year and next year.\"<\/p>\n<p>According to Partanen, the idea that the industry does not need wood in the current worse market cycle is not true.
