{"id":86995,"date":"2023-11-15T09:34:02","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T09:34:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/mood-in-the-german-sawmill-industry-remains-gloomy-as-demand-in-construction-industry-is-poor\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T09:01:05","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T09:01:05","slug":"mood-in-the-german-sawmill-industry-remains-gloomy-as-demand-in-construction-industry-is-poor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/mood-in-the-german-sawmill-industry-remains-gloomy-as-demand-in-construction-industry-is-poor\/","title":{"rendered":"Mood in the German sawmill industry remains gloomy as demand in construction industry is poor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The assessment of the current situation in the German wood industry fell significantly in October to -29.9 points (previous month: -22.1 points). <span id=\"more-34110\"><\/span>The outlook for the next six months, however, brightened significantly; the current value was recently at -33 points (previous month: -40.3 points).\u00a0Overall, the\u00a0The Main Association of the German Wood Industry (HDH)\u00a0economic indicator remained unchanged at \u201331.5 points in October (previous month: \u201331.5 points).<\/p>\n<p>Compared to the entire manufacturing sector, the business climate in the German wood industry was again significantly weaker.\u00a0The value calculated by the Munich-based Ifo institute for the manufacturing industry rose slightly to -15.9 points in October (previous month: -16.2 points) and was therefore still well above the corresponding value for the wood industry (-31.5 points).<\/p>\n<p>Given that the individual segments were affected differently, the mood in the German wood industry remained mixed.\u00a0Companies in the construction-related sector of the wood industry (+36.8 points) and in prefabricated wood construction (+36.7 points) assess their current business situation as positive.\u00a0However, expectations in all segments indicated negative developments in the coming months.\u00a0In particular, the German sawmill industry (-70.2 points), the construction-related sector of the wood industry (-64.2 points), prefabricated wood construction (-63.3 points) and the wood packaging industry (-60.3 points) were concerned about the future: These segments expect a significant deterioration in the business situation in the next six months.<\/p>\n<p>From the HDH's perspective, this is primarily due to the declining demand for construction as a result of the massive increase in construction costs, the increasingly poor financing conditions and the unclear funding conditions.\u00a0The inflation rate in Germany - according to the HDH assessment - remained too high in international comparison at 4.5% in September.\u00a0The prices for important raw materials and intermediate products in the wood industry continued to be at a high level.\u00a0In addition, on October 26, the European Central Bank initially left the key interest rate unchanged at 4.5% after ten interest rate increases in a row in the euro area.\u00a0According to HDH's assessment, under these circumstances, external financing remains difficult for industry and consumers.\u00a0An early revival of the construction industry and a rapid recovery of the consumer climate currently appear unlikely to the HDH.<\/p>\n<p>The monthly economic indicator has been published by the HDH since the reporting month of October 2020.\u00a0This is based on the monthly survey of representative companies from all segments of the wood industry carried out by the Munich Ifo Institute and is determined monthly.\u00a0The individual indicators range between +100 (all reports positive) and -100 (all reports negative) points.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The assessment of the current situation in the German wood industry fell significantly in October to -29.9 points (previous month: -22.1 points).
