{"id":86989,"date":"2023-11-10T08:15:41","date_gmt":"2023-11-10T08:15:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/swedish-forest-industry-stands-strong-in-a-declining-global-economy\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T09:01:04","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T09:01:04","slug":"swedish-forest-industry-stands-strong-in-a-declining-global-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/swedish-forest-industry-stands-strong-in-a-declining-global-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"Swedish forest industry stands strong in a declining global economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Swedish forest industry is increasingly affected by a deteriorating world economy.\u00a0In the pulp and paper market, the export decline is now a fact, while for wood products a drop is predicted from a very good level.\u00a0Compared to competitor countries, the Swedish forest industry stands strong and looks set to gain market share. <span id=\"more-34079\"><\/span>An increased demand from China and the development of raw material supply are some of the factors that may affect the market in the near term.\u00a0This is shown by Swedish Forest Industry Federation (Skogsindustrienta) latest market report.<\/p>\n<p>The report\u00a0<em>''How is the forest industry doing?''<\/em>\u00a0shows a clear decline, especially in the paper sector.\u00a0Production in all categories of the sector decreased during the first nine months of the year compared to the same period last year.\u00a0For some segments, delivery reductions were close to 20 percent.\u00a0However, the loss has been contained by success in markets outside Europe.\u00a0It is mainly about a stabilized high pulp export to China.<\/p>\n<p>On the wood products side, the development has looked somewhat different.\u00a0There, deliveries for the first half of the year were close to record levels.\u00a0This despite a stalled construction economy.<\/p>\n<p>''The Swedish sawmills have done a kind of hop dance.\u00a0At the same time as other European producers have had to reduce their production, Swedish sawmills have had some of their largest deliveries ever.\u00a0It is unexpected, and demand will probably fall back.\u00a0In the near term, the hope is that the American market will be able to defy the economy, but the Chinese market may turn out to be a bubble on the wood product side as well,'' says Christian Nielsen, market analyst for wood products at Skogsindustriern.<\/p>\n<p>''The market decline was unexpectedly strong.\u00a0But when interest in Sweden's other export countries declines, China can act as a locomotive, and the demand for pulp and paper from Chinese industry is strong.\u00a0Even if the weak economy slows down, we see early signs of recovery in demand in Europe,'' says Daniel Eriksson, market analyst for paper and pulp at Skogsindustriern.<\/p>\n<p>The Swedish pulp, paper and wood product producers have as a whole performed better than their competitors on the world market.\u00a0In the medium term, demand for forest products is expected to increase.\u00a0Meeting the world's needs for, for example, renewable building materials and sustainable packaging is a continuing important task for Sweden, which is already one of the countries in the world with the largest forest industry exports.<\/p>\n<p>The report also shows that the raw material situation for the Swedish forest industry is still under pressure.\u00a0Among other things, it is about a more challenging raw material situation around the Baltic Sea when Finland changed its raw material supply from Russian timber.\u00a0The Swedish raw material supply is also affected by a reduced level of logging.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Swedish forest industry is increasingly affected by a deteriorating world economy.\u00a0In the pulp and paper market, the export decline is now a fact, while for wood products a drop is predicted from a very good level.\u00a0Compared to competitor countries, &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/swedish-forest-industry-stands-strong-in-a-declining-global-economy\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":96161,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[4716],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-86989","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest-trends"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.9 -
