Between January and September 2023, the HOMAG Group's order intake fell by 32% to \u20ac968 million.\u00a0In terms of sales, which increased slightly again to \u20ac1,222 million compared to the high value of the previous year, the HOMAG Group still benefited from its very high order backlog from the beginning of the year, which was gradually processed and therefore amounted to \u20ac832 million as of September 30, 2023 (September 30, 2022: \u20ac1,256 million).<\/p>\n

As of September 30, 2023, the HOMAG Group employed 7,482 people.\u00a0A recently approved package of measures is intended to take the significantly lower order intake in the first nine months of 2023 into account.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing the extraordinarily high investments made by our customers in 2021 and 2022, we expected a cyclical downturn to occur - but with almost a third less incoming orders worldwide, this will be much more pronounced than expected,\u201d explains CEO Dr. Daniel Smith.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had to respond to this and quickly developed a package of measures to adjust capacity and discussed them with employee representatives. \u201dThe HOMAG Group plans to cut almost 600 jobs worldwide and expects this to result in cost reductions of around \u20ac25 million in the coming year and around \u20ac50 million per year from 2025. Around 350 of the 600 jobs will be eliminated at the German locations. In Germany, the reduction should be carried out in a socially acceptable manner through volunteer programs and early retirement models. Redundancies for operational reasons are currently not planned, but cannot be ruled out. In addition to job cuts, the HOMAG Group plans to use other flexibility instruments, such as reducing working time accounts and short-time work, and has imposed a widespread hiring freeze. \u201cThe sharp drop in incoming orders is affecting us with a delay and will lead to a significant decline in sales of up to 15% in 2024,\u201d explains Dr. Daniel Smith.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
