German timber construction is holding tight in a difficult environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The members of the Holzbau Deutschland specialist meeting, which took place at the end of October 2023 in Munzingen near Freiburg im Breisgau, agreed on this.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe order books are full and the mood in the companies is good,\u201d said Peter Aicher, Chairman of Holzbau Deutschland, summarizing the current market situation in timber construction.\u00a0\u201cAlthough the demand for one- and two-family houses is declining, timber construction is being supported by increasing modernization measures.\u201d These not only come in the form of energy-efficient renovations, but also as extensions and conversions of existing buildings.\u00a0\u201cIn the future,\u201d said Peter Aicher, \u201cserial renovation and modular construction will play an increasingly important role in timber construction.\u201d<\/p>\n

The number of building permits for single- and two-family house construction is declining.\u00a0However, when buildings are built, they are increasingly being built using wood.\u00a0This is proven by the figures from the evaluations by the Federal Statistical Office and Heinze market research on building permits in the first half of 2023. They show that the timber construction rate has increased significantly, especially in the construction of multi-family houses (MFH).\u00a0For the first time it reaches an average of 6% (2022: 5.3%).\u00a0The number of single- and two-family houses built primarily with wood has also continued to rise and is at an average of 25.4% (2022: 24.5%).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
