According to the timber industry holding Segezha Group, the reason for the development of export supplies of lumber from Russia to India is too expensive logistics. <\/span>The ProDerevo portal spoke about this, citing a statement by the company\u2019s president, Mikhail Shamolin, made at the \u201cMade in Russia 2023\u201d forum.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe produce 2.5 million m\u00b3 of dry lumber of the so-called transport moisture content and we export 98% of this lumber. Today, we export almost zero lumber out of this entire volume to India, or more precisely, 0.4%. The reason is very simple: we have to compete with mainly European manufacturers when supplying to India. The average cost of delivering cargo by Europeans to India is 40 euros per m\u00b3, the average cost of delivery that we are offered today is 150-220 dollars per m\u00b3. With such delivery rates, no economics are possible when supplying lumber to India, and until the rate drops to comparable values, accordingly, no serious business in supplying lumber to India will exist, not only for us, but for any Russian manufacturers,\u201d quotes publication of a statement by Mikhail Shamolin.<\/p>\n
