During the month, the prices for pine logs decreased by 1.2%, pine pulpwood by 0.7%, and spruce logs by 1%. However, there was a slight increase in the price of small diameter spruce logs by 0.5%.<\/p>\n<p>The current state of the Estonian timber industry can be described even more clearly by comparing prices to September of the previous year. Over the year, prices for softwood timber have significantly dropped. Pine logs have decreased by 31.1% (from 38.2 \u20ac\/m\u00b3), small diameter pine logs by 30.1%, spruce logs by 19% (from 18.3 \u20ac\/m\u00b3), and small diameter spruce logs by 13.9% (from 12.5 \u20ac\/m\u00b3).<\/p>\n<p>The price trends for hardwood assortments in September varied. Birch logs, which had been in a long-term downward trend, saw a significant price increase of 5.3%. The price changes for other assortments were more modest. Larch logs increased by 0.3%, aspen logs decreased by 0.7%, and birch bundles by 1%. Compared to prices six months ago, the biggest price drops were in the birch assortments: birch veneer logs by 9.5% and logs by 14.7%. Larch logs decreased by 5.4%, aspen logs by 4.1%. Compared to September 2022, the most significant price drop was for aspen logs (34.7% or 32.7 \u20ac\/m\u00b3). Larch logs decreased by 23% over the year (by 20.5 \u20ac\/m\u00b3), and birch logs by 13.1% (from 17.7 \u20ac\/m\u00b3). In the current economic downturn, compared to other assortments in the wood market, the price of birch veneer logs has remained exceptionally stable, decreasing by only 3.8% over the year (by6.9 \u20ac\/m\u00b3). This once again confirms the excellent performance of the Estonian timber industry in marketing birch plywood and birch solid wood products on the global market.<\/p>\n<p>The price of firewood has continued its moderate growth trend in recent months. In September, the price increased by 2.2%, reaching a level of 42.87 \u20ac\/m\u00b3. It should be noted that this is a price without value-added tax. For the average consumer who cannot avoid VAT, the cost of a 3-meter mixed firewood bundle is approximately 51.44 \u20ac\/m\u00b3.
