Since the beginning of this year, the output and sales of Russian timber and wood products have declined, and plywood production has reached its lowest point in 10 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

As of June 2023, Russia has harvested 77.8 million cubic meters of commercial timber this year.<\/p>\n

Although production is increasing every month, it is actually still below last year's levels.\u00a0The agency said that this figure is still down by about 12% compared with last year's 89 million cubic meters.<\/p>\n

However, production of other products is growing: wooden furniture 37%; paper and paper products increased 3.2%; plywood production decreased 1%; particleboard 5.83%; veneer increased 4.37%; wood pellet production increased more than 6%; wood flooring rose 1.28%.<\/p>\n

Russian timber and wood products production has generally recovered well. As plywood and particleboard production is resuming, demand in the timber market is expected to recover, at which prices for plywood and sawn timber are expected to increase.<\/p>\n

From the perspective of export trends, against the backdrop of European sanctions, Russia\u2019s supply of timber and wood products to China has grown in line with expectations.<\/p>\n

From January to May 2023, Russia exported 780,000 cubic meters of qualified logs to China, a year-on-year decrease of 35.18%; the output value reached 600 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 33%.<\/p>\n

Exports of sawn timber to China were 5.27 million meters3, a year-on-year increase of 7.7%; the output value was 7.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
