<\/span>Layoffs have commenced at the Polish Ikea factory in Goleni\u00f3w, Poland. Over 130 people are set to lose their jobs, as reported by gs24.pl. The global giant faces more issues as the Maja furniture factory, which is Ikea's largest supplier in Germany, is scheduled to close in December. Ikea is parting ways with 130 employees, which accounts for 17 percent of the workforce at the Goleni\u00f3w production plant. The reason for the layoffs is a decrease in orders from the global furniture manufacturer.<\/p>\n

''This is certainly a crisis situation, and it should not be underestimated,'' commented Robert Krupowicz, the mayor of Goleni\u00f3w, for the Polish media.<\/p>\n

According to the money.pl media portal, the head of one of the largest furniture factories in Poland, who prefers not to disclose their name because they also supply Ikea and other large furniture stores, claims that the entire industry is suffering due to a significant drop in sales to the extent that even optimistic forecasts for the coming months and the next year have been abandoned.<\/p>\n

Ikea \"does not enter into long-term supply agreements with us, the manufacturers, for periods of two or three years,\" says the furniture entrepreneur.<\/p>\n

And for each order, new terms are negotiated. This makes it particularly challenging for manufacturers to invest in machinery and production facilities because the uncertainty is immense,\" he adds. Merchants not only reduce the quantities ordered but also increasingly turn to manufacturers from outside Europe. Industry Problems Problems are also evident among our neighbors.
