Wood prices in Germany continued to fall in September. One reason is the construction crisis and the slump in sales of lumber. Another reason is the high energy costs of the industry. It is not yet clear at what level prices will bottom out.<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to the severe crisis in the construction industry, sales of softwood lumber have fallen dramatically . As a result, the amount of wood cut had to be drastically reduced. Against this background, demand for softwood logs is extremely weak in most regions.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrices continue to spiral downwards ,\u201d is how forest owner associations describe the current situation. Wood harvesting often focuses on processing damaged wood. And there are enough of them this year.<\/p>\n
