Moelven had a turnover of just over seven billion (EUR 619.57 million) NOK during the first six months of the year. That is a decrease of NOK 1.1 billion (EUR 97.35 million) compared to the same period in 2022. <\/span>Operating profit landed at NOK 343 million (EUR 30.29 million), which can be compared to NOK 1.6 billion (EUR 141.51 million) for the same period last year.<\/p>\n

\"We have left the post-pandemic record years behind us and are now experiencing an everyday life that is more similar to the one we had before 2020. Considering the tough market situation we are in, we are satisfied with the half-year results, but we expect that the next six months will be marked by even greater uncertainty,\" says CEO Morten Kristiansen at Moelven in a press release.<\/p>\n

Private consumption decreases In the Scandinavian home markets, the first half of the year offered low activity in the construction goods trade, and fewer new residential and holiday home projects were started than in the same period in 2022. Internationally, however, the demand for sawn timber remained at a satisfactory level, writes Moelven.<\/p>\n

Inflation, rising interest rates and higher costs generally cause private consumption to decrease. People have to prioritize what to spend their money on, and that affects the sale of wood products.<\/p>\n

Uncertain times affect<\/p>\n

The group CEO explains that the result has decreased more than the turnover with the uncertain times.<\/p>\n

\"The market is changeable and unpredictable. The increased costs result in lower profits on our products, and the margins are exposed to increasing pressure throughout the value chain.
