S\u00f6dra posted a lower result for the second quarter of 2023. The result reflects the weakened market conditions for S\u00f6dra\u2019s core products. \"We are facing a weaker economy, high inflation, more expensive inputs and a changed climate.\u00a0The changes we are experiencing are global movements that affect both the forest and the market,\" comments\u00a0S\u00f6dra's\u00a0CEO\u00a0Lotta Lyr\u00e5\u00a0in the company's report for the second quarter.<\/p>\n Net sales fell 18.2% to SEK 7,322 million (8,953).<\/p>\n Operating profit was SEK 464 million (2,325), with an operating margin of 6.3% (26.0).<\/p>\n The profit after tax was SEK 309 million (1,961), a decrease of 84.2% compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n \"S\u00f6dra makes a significantly lower result during the quarter compared to the same period in recent years, but the result is stable in relation to the market conditions,\" writes Lotta Lyr\u00e5.<\/p>\n \"For sawn wood products and sustainable construction in wood, uncertainty remains regarding how demand will develop.\u00a0However, the assessment is that it will slow down.\u00a0Demand for pulp will be weak and prices look set to fall in the near future.\u00a0At the end of the year, demand is estimated to rise somewhat, but to what extent is uncertain,\" the company writes about the future prospects.<\/p>\n The full year 2023 is expected to be a challenging year, but in the long term the prospects for S\u00f6dra's main products are judged to be good.\u00a0The underlying demand for sustainable forest-based products benefits from the growth of the global economy.\u00a0Tightened climate targets also drive the transition towards a more sustainable bioeconomy, S\u00f6dra reported.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" S\u00f6dra posted a lower result for the second quarter of 2023.
