<\/span>Koskisen\u2019s new processing unit starts functioning from the beginning of July. The full working capability of the new production unit will take time and will mature by 2024.<\/p>\n The company also believes that this newly developed production unit will significantly improve the productivity of the Sawn Timber Industry unit that will be starting from the next year.<\/p>\n Jukka Pahta, CEO of Koskisen confidently assures that, \u201cThe new production line will increase sawmilling productivity by up to 40 per cent and enable the use of smaller log diameter. This way, we will be able to serve our customers with new products and the wood raw material will be used even more precisely in end products that bind carbon for a long time,\u201d<\/p>\n The total investment in the new unit ranges to EUR 50 million in 2021\u20132024. Koskisen confirms that in the first phase the production capacity is expected to increase from 300,000 cubic meters to 400,000 cubic meters. The second phase will see better improvement as the capacity might increase up to 500,000 cubic meters. The development of the unit with latest world-class technology is not only improving the volumes but is also improving the quality of production.<\/p>\n Tommi Sneck, Director, Sawn Timber Industry unit, therefore proudly states, \u201cThe new wood processing unit represents the latest world-class technology and efficiency, which is also in line with our high-quality driven strategy.
